When families use respite care.

Caring for someone is demanding. Regular breaks help family caregivers keep going, and keep care steady at home.

  • A few hours of relief

A short break to rest, see friends or simply have time to yourself.

  • Regular scheduled support

A recurring afternoon, day or evening you can plan around.

  • Appointments and errands

Cover while you attend your own appointments or run errands.

  • Work and other commitments

Support at home while you work or look after other responsibilities.

  • Rest

Including overnight support, so you can sleep through the night.

  • When you’re unavailable

Temporary care when the usual family caregiver is away, unwell or travelling.

Care that carries on while you’re away.

Respite care follows the same care plan you agree with us: daily routines, personal care, meals, companionship and safety at home, depending on what your loved one needs.

Before your first break, we take time to understand the routine and anything the caregiver should know. Visits are checked in and out electronically, so you can see when care started and finished in the Tap’N’Care app.

Care with accountability built in.

  • Screened professionals

Interviews, a Vulnerable Sector Check, credentials verified and references checked before approval.

  • Electronic visit verification

Caregivers check in and out electronically, so each visit’s start and end is on record.

  • Visible to families

Check-in and check-out information and your caregiver’s profile are available in the Tap’N’Care app.

  • Ongoing supervision and feedback

We check in regularly, supervise and act on what families and caregivers tell us.

Common questions.

What is respite care?

Respite care is temporary or scheduled support that gives a family caregiver time away, while the person they care for continues to receive care at home.

Who is respite care for?

It’s for family members and friends who look after someone at home, such as an older parent, a partner or a person living with dementia, and who need a break.

Can respite care be arranged regularly?

It can be arranged as a one-off or on a regular schedule. What we can arrange depends on your needs and our caregivers’ availability, which we confirm with you.

Can respite support someone living with dementia?

Yes. Respite is often especially helpful for families caring for someone living with dementia. Care follows the person’s needs and the plan agreed with the family.

How do we get started?

Book a free initial care consultation or call us. We’ll talk about the person’s needs, when you need support and how often, then agree a plan and confirm your rate in writing before care begins.
