Tap’N’Care

Privacy policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

Tap’N’Care Inc. (“Tap’N’Care”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how we protect it, and how you can ask to see, correct or delete it.

What this policy covers

  • This website (tapncare.com), including its forms. The details below describe the website in full.
  • The Tap’N’Care mobile app. The section “Information collected or generated through the app” below explains what the app may collect and why. The same principles apply throughout this policy.
  • Care and staffing services. Particular home-care or staffing services may come with their own agreements or notices, for example about health information handled while providing care. Where they do, those apply in addition to this policy.

App users can ask us to delete their app account and associated personal information. See Data deletion and account deletion.

Information collected through the website

We collect only what’s needed for the purpose you contact us about, and only what you choose to send through the website’s forms:

  • Contact form: your name, email, phone number, subject and message.
  • Book a care consultation: who needs care, the general type and amount of help, when and where care is needed (city and postal code), your contact details and preferred way to reach you, and any notes you add.
  • Request staff: your organization, your name and role, work contact details, the roles, shifts and location you need, and any notes.
  • Careers: your contact details, the role you’re applying for, where you live, your availability and preferred settings, your résumé and, if you choose, a certificate or registration document.
  • Care & Thrive: your contact details, what you’d like to learn and when you can attend.

When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse, for example by limiting repeated form submissions.

Information collected or generated through the app

What the app collects depends on your role (for example, a client or family member, a caregiver or healthcare worker, or an organization), the features you use and how you use the service. Not every category below is collected from every user. Depending on these, it may include:

  • account and profile information, including your name and contact details;
  • bookings, shifts and assignments;
  • visit information, including the assigned client or service location;
  • check-in and check-out information, and electronic visit verification (EVV) records;
  • GPS location information connected with visit and EVV functionality, including background location where that functionality requires it;
  • selfies or photos submitted through the app features that ask for them;
  • messages and other information you choose to submit or upload through the app’s features;
  • technical, security and usage information reasonably needed to operate, maintain, secure and improve the service.

Why the app uses your location

Caregivers work at an assigned client or service location. The app uses GPS location information, including background location where needed, to:

  • support visits at the assigned client or service location;
  • support caregiver visit workflows, including check-in and check-out;
  • support electronic visit verification;
  • help verify that service activity takes place at the relevant service location.

Background location is used only for this visit and verification functionality. We don’t use it to track caregivers for unrelated purposes. Your device lets you see and manage the app’s location permission; if you turn it off, visit, check-in or verification features may not work.

Why the app asks for a selfie or photo

Some app features ask you to take a selfie or photo, as part of identity verification or visit-related steps. It helps confirm that the right person is using the account or carrying out the visit. Your device lets you see and manage the app’s camera permission; if you don’t allow it, those features may not be available.

Sensitive and health information

Please don’t send detailed medical or health information through the website. Our general forms aren’t designed to receive it. We’ll talk about care needs with you directly and privately.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry, and to arrange a care consultation, staffing or an application conversation.
  • To contact you in the way you asked.
  • To keep a record of our communication with you.
  • In the app, to provide its services: bookings, shifts and assignments, visits, check-in and check-out, and electronic visit verification.
  • To keep the website and app secure and working properly.

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising. We won’t use it for a new purpose without asking you first, unless the law allows or requires it.

Consent

By ticking the consent box and sending a form, you agree that we may use your information as described here. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual limits. If you send information about someone else, such as a parent you’re arranging care for, please make sure you have their permission or are authorized to act for them.

In the app, your device asks for your permission before the app can use the camera or location. You can change these permissions in your device settings at any time, although some features may then not work.

Cookies and analytics

This website doesn’t use advertising cookies or analytics trackers. If we add analytics in future, we’ll update this policy first.

Service providers and hosting

We use trusted service providers to run the website and receive form submissions (a website hosting provider and an email service), and to operate the app. They process information on our behalf and only to provide their service. Some of them may store or process information outside Canada, for example in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

We may also disclose personal information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards for the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the website and limiting access to form submissions to the people who need them to help you. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires or permits, for example for employment, billing, tax or visit records. We then delete it or make it anonymous.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we’re not required to keep it. We may need to confirm your identity first.

To delete your app account or information you sent through the website, follow the steps on our data deletion page.
